Theresa Thompson

Staff Technical Marketing Architect

Theresa has been an IT professional for over 26 years.  She started out working as a Unix and Email administrator and became a “Jill of all trades” while working at 3 different higher education organizations, adding skills ranging in development to running LPARs on a mainframe. Her favorite activity during this time was in mentoring professors to bring technology into their student’s daily classroom life.  Theresa began focusing more on storage, disaster recovery and continuity of operations after assisting another university during the aftermath of Katrina.  She then left Higher Education and started working with the US government, maintaining their data centers and zero-down applications for 7 years.  As a Solaris expert, Theresa was later than most to adopting VMware virtualization.  The past 12 years she has been with vendors first, assisting customers with engineering solutions, and understanding the best practices to protect their virtual environments.  Four years ago she started with VMware, working on the Hyper Converged Infrastructure team which morphed into Cloud Infrastructure Experts.  Theresa currently works as part of VMware’s Private Cloud Technical Marketing team; helping to enable VMware, their partner field teams, and customers, gain a better understanding and champion how VMware Cloud can be beneficial in their journey to adopting cloud methodologies in their operations.
